I love hoops in general and have been watching the playoffs pretty closely. I’ve watched every minute of the Finals so far – I really want to see LeBron win a title for some reason. Before the season, I was full entrenched on the “I Hate LeBron” side of the aisle and while I still think “The Decision” was just an absolutely terrible show filled with product placement and arrogance, I think he has realized it was a mistake and he has showed a bit of contrition about it. I thought he wanted to flat-out apologize to the Cleveland fans once he realized he had made such a huge mistake and his image/brand took a knock by doing it, but the very heart of this matter is that LeBron took less money to go to a team where he felt he had the best chance to win a title RIGHT NOW.

Even though he won’t be looked at as the driving force behind the title(s) the Heat win from here on out, I think the move speaks volumes about his personal goals. He could have taken a max contract in Cleveland, become the highest paid player in NBA history and continued to fall short each and every year because management put shitty parts around him, parts that were only good enough to get him to the second round.

What LeBron did was – and this is a rarity in today’s professional sports world – sacrifice money and individual stardom to become a very important part of a very good-to-great team. It also shows that his one and only goal in the NBA is to WIN TITLES. I really think his move to Miami solidified, at least in my eyes, LeBron’s true desire to be an NBA champion. That is what we should want from our stars. We should want them to want to win championships above all else and because of that, I’m cheering for him and the Miami Heat.
